2008 Silverbacks Off and Running!

This past weekend the London Silverbacks 2008 try-out was a huge success with nearly 60 athletes working to put their best foot forward and earn a spot on Canada’s premier minor league football team.

All potential players were put through a standard battery of testing including the crowd favourite 40 yard dash where veteran cornerback Pete Plesa once again blew away viewers by posting the day’s best time at 4.34 seconds. Following the testing everyone received their opportunity to prove themselves working with the coaches in a number of position specific activities.

This year’s special guest evaluator’s/coaches were, from the Silverbacks affiliate the Toronto Argos (CFL), Adam Rita GM &VP of football operations, Miles Gorrell Player Personnel assistant and Craig Smith the Eastern Region scout for the B.C Lions (CFL).

After such a great event players and coaches alike are anxious to get in to training camp the first week of May to begin a run for a second straight championship.
